Beautiful views in Mykonos, Greece

Mykonos is an island in Greece. It is the most famous cosmopolitan island, a whitewashed paradise in the heart of the Cyclades. The island is known for its small alleys lined with bright white buildings overlooking a beautiful harbor, centuries-old windmills, and turquoise waters. Not only are the views amazing, but the food is also to die for. Traditional Greek cuisine is very healthy. Some popular Greek dishes include:

  • Gyro – roasted meat served in a pita, usually with tomatoes, onions, and tzatziki, a cold, creamy sauce
  • Kleftiko – slow-oven-baked lamb on the bone, which is first marinated in garlic and lemon juice
  • Souvlaki – grilled meat on a skewer (can be pork, chicken, lamb, or beef) and usually comes with side vegetables and fries, tzatziki, and pita bread
  • Spanakopita – spinach pie with feta cheese, onions, or scallions, and egg and is wrapped in phyllo pastry

Parasailing on the beach

Elia Beach, pictured above, is the longest stretch of white sands in Mykonos. It is lined with restaurants, bars, and beach cafes, as well as snorkeling, windsurfing, water-skiing, and parasailing. This is a large beach with lots of options ranging from family friendly activities to exclusive sections (that cost extra). The beach is easy access and cheap parking.

Strolling around Delou Street

Delou Street is located in the center of Mykonos Town; it is easily accessible. This is a lovely street to walk on. All the buildings are beautiful and white with a splash of blue; it is a small, winding road that no cars go down, so everyone walks on this street. It has amazing shops and small businesses with very sweet workers. The cobblestone street makes the walk even prettier.

A quad bike is the best thing you can spend your money in Greece! A quad bike gives you the freedom to drive around the island; it is cheaper and more fun than renting a car. I recommend renting this and traveling independently around the island instead of getting a tour guide. There are so many amazing places you can explore if you just keep driving up these dirt roads. About €50 per bike for one day. Don’t forget to wear a helmet!
